DPGC 2025: What to Expect from the New Edition

02 de dezembro de 2025

The Data Privacy Global Conference (DPGC) 2025 will take place on December 8 and 9 at ESPM (Álvaro Alvim Campus). Now in its 4th edition, the event arrives with a renewed format designed to make participants’ experience even more interactive, immersive, and personalized.

At a time when global geopolitics revolves around themes such as the regulation of Artificial Intelligence, public digital infrastructures, digital sovereignty, and data governance, the DPGC strengthens its role as one of the main spaces in the Global South for discussing the impacts of technology on fundamental rights.

This year, the conference expands its role as a convergence space for multiple actors in the data ecosystem: academia, the private sector, the public sector, and civil society — reflecting our intention to promote debate that connects technology, rights, and social justice through diverse and localized perspectives.

A New Format: The DPGC Your Way

Reinforcing its commitment to expanding debate in the field of governance and regulation of new technologies, DPGC 2025 brings significant changes to its format and overall experience. This year, the conference will feature simultaneous thematic workshops, an exclusive app, and new spaces for interaction.

You will be able to choose from different thematic tracks based on your interests, fostering a fully customized experience. Whether you’re seeking technical updates or looking to expand your network and explore the data privacy field from multiple perspectives, DPGC is the ideal space.

“DPGC 2025 will address crucial topics for democracies in the Global South, such as the surge of fraud based on personal data, the dilemmas of public digital infrastructures, child protection in digital environments, and AI regulation. This year we will have a new format, with plenaries in the morning and immersive workshops in the afternoon. We hope these in-depth dialogues signal pathways and new forms of cooperation in the digital rights agenda. We believe DPGC has established itself as a high-importance annual event not only for Brazil but for the world,” says Rafael Zanatta, co-director of Data Privacy Brasil.

Themes Shaping the Data Debate in the Global South

This year’s program follows the most urgent issues on the international agenda, bringing together experts to discuss:

  • Regulation and governance of Artificial Intelligence
  • Public digital infrastructures and their democratic dilemmas
  • Information integrity
  • Cybersecurity
  • Enforcement of personal data protection
  • Digital sovereignty and geopolitical challenges

DPGC 2025 will feature leaders from renowned Global South organizations such as Aapti Institute (India), Paradigm Initiative (Nigeria), Privacy International (London), InternetLab (Brazil), among others. The conference will also host prominent academics such as Linnet Taylor (Tilburg Institute for Law, Technology and Society – TILT), Laura Schertel Mendes (IDP), and Ticianne Darin (UFC).

Among the Brazilian speakers leading the discussions are figures such as Waldemar Gonçalves, President-Director of the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD); Jamila Venturini, Regional Coordinator at Derechos Digitales; Juliana Abrusio, partner and head of Technology and Data Protection at Machado Meyer, deputy legal director at FIESP and counselor at the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB); and Luiz Paulo Pinho, co-founder of Jusbrasil.
