Aarushi is the Research Manager at Digital Futures Lab, leading projects on AI Ethics and Digital Public Infrastructure. She is currently leading a project to develop tools to operationalise principles for Responsible AI and monitor and evaluate AI interventions in low-resource contexts. She is also engaged in research on gender equities in large language models in India. Beyond AI, her work takes a critical look at the governance and impact of digital public infrastructure in India. To that end, she has designed appraisal frameworks that can help policymakers and practitioners interrogate the suitability of a DPI / DPG approach in critical social sectors. She also has many years of experience working on issues related to social protection design and delivery within India – with a keen focus on digital cash transfers for low-income households.
