Cecilia Olliveira is an investigative journalist dedicated to the coverage of drug and arms trafficking and violence. In 2016, frustrated by the lack of publicly available data, she began mapping the shootings in Rio de Janeiro. This idea has become a Crossfire, now an Institute that uses technology to produce and disseminate open and collaborative data on gun violence. Today FC operates in more than 40 cities and is spreading throughout the major centers of Brazil. She was the only Latin American finalist for the 2020 Reporters Without Borders Press Award, which celebrates intrepid and courageous voices in the global media. She is also director of the Brazilian Association of Investigative Journalism – ABRAJI.
